Guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh general information: All the information is firsthand from my trips to Phnom Penh. Every year, I visit many old and new hotels in Phnom Penh, speak to staff/owners, and take new pictures. My guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh list below is constantly updated.
Most of the guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh are located close to the areas where a lot of hostess bars, clubs and restaurants are concentrated – Street 130, Street 136, Street 104 and Street 51. Guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh 2024 update
I had a great stay at Sun & Moon Hotel again.
The hotel list and rates are updated. Many recently renovated hotels raised their prices, but some are even cheaper. I added Saravoan Palace. It’s guest friendly, close to the Royal Palace but not very close to the bars.
As I mentioned before, another excellent new 5-star hotel near the Royal Palace – Palace Gate Hotel & Resort. Visitors are allowed in rooms but not for breakfast.
There is also a new hotel on Street 172 called Floozys. They try to make the hotel’s bar freelancer-friendly, like the now non-existent Walkabout.
Last year, I made the biggest update and stayed at Sun & Moon, Harmony, and Amanjaya hotels, so you can check my new reviews and photos below. I also took photos of the newest hotel near Riverside – Residence 101.
Guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh important updates from previous years: Harmony and Ohana have recently renovated rooms but Sun and Moon is still the best guest friendly hotel for pool lovers. Asia Tune Hotel is now Altos Hotel. Riverview Cambodia Boutique Hotel is permanently closed. Riverside Suites is now Tao Riverside Residence, and the Hometown Suite Hotel is now Best Central Point Hotel. Both hotels are still guest friendly.
Golden Sorya Mall (Pub Street) has been demolished. Street 51 is still suitable for food; there are some bars but not many freelancers. Flamingos and Blue Tongue hotels are closed. Purple Inn is a new hotel right opposite the former Pub Street. Short-term rooms are available for $8. The Walkabout bar is permanently closed.

1. Sun & Moon Urban Hotel **** $61+
Best value for money from all luxury guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh. One of the newest hotels in the area, built in 2015. Excellent rooms with modern design and free wi-fi. Comfy bed, bathroom with nice shower and toilet. There is also a nice TV and in-room safe. It’s probably the hotel with the best swimming pool, close to the action. Located on Street 136, most bar areas are within a few minutes walk. There is also a nice video review of Sun & Moon Urban Hotel on YouTube.
Guest friendly policy: If you book a room for two, you can bring visitors free of charge. If you book a room for one person, they charge $10 for every visitor.
2. Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel *** $45+
Ohana Hotel is close to Riverside and within walking distance to most beer bar areas. The rooms are nice and quiet with good-sized beds. Clean toilets and bathrooms with bathtubs. The hotel has the second-best swimming pool (the best is at Sun & Moon Hotel), an excellent rooftop restaurant with a magnificent river view, and a jacuzzi.
3. Tao Riverside Residence **** $65+
Fantastic recently renovated hotel and an excellent location right on the riverfront. It is a short walk to the main nightlife area on Street 136, with many hostess bars and restaurants. Huge, clean, and modern decorated rooms with huge beds, coaches and wi-fi. Clean bathrooms with bathtubs. Nice large balconies with chairs and magnificent riverside view. Even with all the traffic, the rooms are very quiet.
4. Monsoon Riverside Hotel *** $25+
A decent, guest friendly hotel located on Street 130, literary between some of the best beer bars in Phnom Penh. Good value for the price. Large rooms and clean bathrooms with nice designs. Flat TV. Some rooms can be noisy. If you are a light sleeper, do not get a room facing the street. Excellent wi-fi connection. Nice breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff.
5. Golden House International Hotel *** $33+
It is one of the best guest friendly hotels in Phnom Penh. I stayed there three times. The hotel is in the middle of the nightlife area – Street 136 and close to the Riverside. A lot of hostess bars and restaurants are almost at your doorstep. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a quieter room. Comfy beds, wi-fi, great aircon, and LCD TV with many international channels in the room. Clean bathrooms with bathtubs. Very safe place – you get a call from the reception before allowing your girl to leave the hotel.
6. Lux Riverside Hotel and Apartment **** $40+
Lux Riverside Hotel & Apartments is on Street 136, right in the action. It is the best location of all guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh. Many beer bars just across the street. All other main nightlife areas are within walking distance. Clean hotel with huge rooms and bathrooms, large and comfy beds, in-room safe and strong, and free Wi-Fi. Friendly and helpful staff. The complimentary breakfast is very basic. Better eat outside – plenty of cheap eating places nearby.
7. Point Boutique Hotel *** $25+
One of the newest hotels in the area, it is located on Street 130, close to Riverside and some of the best hostess bars in Phnom Penh. The junior suites are huge and nice. They have comfy beds, LCD TVs and desks, an in-room safe, and a fridge. The top-floor rooms have an excellent view of the city but low water pressure. Nice and clean bathrooms. The Wi-Fi is okay. There are new elevators.
8. Vacation Boutique Hotel *** $25+
One of the newest guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh, built in 2015, has nice, clean rooms and bathrooms, an in-room safe, and free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have balconies with a view of the city.
Guest friendly policy: Visitors must have an ID. No extra charges.
9. Le Hotel *** $30+
It’s the former Le Grand Palais Boutique Hotel. The hotel is located in an old colonial building. It offers huge and well-decorated rooms with nice beds, clean bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, an in-room safe and a flat TV. There is also a small rooftop swimming pool. It is in an excellent location if you are an ST fan. Cyrcee Secret Bar is right across the street.
0. Amanjaya Pancam Suites Hotel **** $89+
Amanjaya is one of the best upscale luxury guest friendly hotels in Phnom Penh, as it’s close to the action and within walking distance to most beer bar areas. Huge, well-decorated, spotlessly clean rooms with balconies, comfy beds, big and clean bathrooms and excellent free Wi-Fi. The shower has good water pressure but the toilet is very small. Friendly service and manager. There is a great riverside view from the rooftop bar; moreover, Le Moon bar is one of the most famous rooftop bars in Phnom Penh.
A. Harmony Phnom Penh Hotel **** $58+
After the huge renovation, Harmony is one of the best hotels in the area. Most beer bars are less than a few minutes walk away, and some of the best restaurants are nearby. The rooms are huge, with seating areas and balconies that have nice views of the area. They also have TVs with big screens and desks. The beds are huge but hard. The bathroom is not big but clean and has a separate shower and toilet. Harmony has one of the best rooftop swimming pools in Phnom Penh, with great river views. Moreover, it has a very nice rooftop bar where you can enjoy the sunset.
B. Residence 101 **** $29+
It’s the newest hotel in Phnom Penh, less than five minutes’ walk to the bars. It’s on a busy street, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet. The cheapest standard rooms are tiny and don’t have windows, but their studios are nice. There is a bar area and a new TV and fridge. The bathrooms are nice and clean, but no separate toilets and showers. Sadly, the biggest and best superior rooms were unavailable during my visit. I loved the rooftop gym and pool.

C. Silver Mounts Hotel *** $23+
It’s a good option for a mid-range guest friendly hotel near many cheap restaurants and not far from the hostess bars. The rooms are basic but nice, with clean bathrooms, desks, flat TVs, in-room safes and good Wi-Fi. The staff are nice.
D. Sundance Inn & Saloon *** $20+
Great value for money guest friendly hotel within walking distance to many beer bars. I stayed there in 2016. Big clean rooms with huge comfy beds. Excellent free wi-fi, large TVs with attached computers (also USB ports for your media). Clean bathrooms and showers with hot water. Nice bar on the first floor. The owner, Harry, and the staff are very friendly. Small but clean swimming pool. Side entrance with a keycard. The hotel has only 12 rooms, one without windows, so it is better to book in advance.
E. Best Central Point Hotel *** $17+
It’s the former Hometown Suite Hotel. Probably the best value for money, cheap guest friendly hotel in Phnom Penh. You can get a huge balcony room for less than $25 per night. The beds and bathrooms are huge too. Flat TV, fridge and in-room safe. The location is not in the middle of the beer bar area but only a short walk to the bars. Many excellent cheap restaurants nearby.
F. City Lodge Hotel *** $26+
It’s the former City Centre hotel. It has an excellent location on Street 130, close to the bars. Deluxe rooms are great, with nice, good-sized bathrooms, LCD TVs, desks, and a fridge. Standard rooms are too small and some don’t have windows. There is excellent Wi-Fi. The rooms on the top floor are quiet. The hotel has an elevator and a good restaurant downstairs.

1. Mondulkiri Boutique Hotel *** $26+ (closed)
One of the newest guest friendly hotels in Phnom Penh and one of my favorites on the guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh list. I booked a room for one month in 2015 as it was a great value-for-money option. The hotel is situated in a quiet location on Street 178 but close to the Street 51 area (one of the city’s top party areas with many hostess bars, restaurants and discos).
The rooms are huge with comfy beds, Wi-Fi, a shower with high pressure, great air conditioning, LCD TV, and even a kettle with complimentary coffee in the room. I love the cocktails and the great view from the rooftop bar. The only downside is that the hotel is a bit far from the riverfront, but you can always take a tuk tuk in front of the hotel for $2. Ask for Sarong, a really nice guy.
2. Blue Tongue Hotel (closed)
Blue Tongue Hotel is a good option on my guest friendly hotels Phnom Penh list if you are looking for guest friendly hotel on Street 51. It is less than a minute to get to the hostess bars, clubs, and eating places. The hotel has clean, large rooms, comfy beds, wi-fi. There is no joiner fee, but you must book a double room, and only one unregistered guest per room is allowed.
3. Cardamom Hotel & Apartment (temporarily closed) *** $34+
Cardamom is the best guest friendly hotel in the Street 51 area if you don’t mind paying more. Less than a two-minute walk to the party area. Clean, stylish rooms with flat TV, free wi-fi, and nice bathrooms. Very friendly staff.
4. Wei Si Deng *** $30+
It’s the former Nana hotel. It was a cheap budget option, but not anymore. The party area is right across the street, and many cheap food options are nearby. However, there are much better and more affordable hotels nearby. The rooms are clean with flat TVs and very good Wi-Fi, but most don’t have windows. Bathrooms have hot water.
5. Altos Hotel **** $29+
Altos is the former Asia hotel, and its location is right between Street 51 and Riverside. It doesn’t look like a 4-star hotel, but the rates are not high either. The rooms are large and renovated with comfortable beds and flat TVs. However, some rooms are noisy due to outside traffic and almost no English channels. Some bathrooms have walk-in showers, but others have showers above the bathtubs. The staff are friendly, and there is a rooftop restaurant.

Saravoan Royal Palace *** $40+
If you plan to bring visitors but stay away from the red-light districts of Phnom Penh and close to some of the most famous tourist places, this hotel is for you. It’s only a five-minute walk to the National Museum and Royal Palace but fifteen to the girly bars.
All the rooms are big and clean, with comfy beds and bathrooms with bathtubs. The hotel has a small but nice green area.
Himawari Hotel Apartments ***** $98+
It’s a good value-for-money upscale luxury hotel, a bit far from the action, but it’s only a short tuk-tuk ride away from the main party areas. The hotel has large, clean, self-contained apartments with balconies and magnificent river views. It also has a great swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, tennis court, gym, sauna, massage, and spa.
